I really do mean what I say when I added my to signature "We Only Host the World's Most Important Website-Yours!" Because after all, to you, your web site is the most important in the world, you probably don't care if someone else is "down" or slow (especially a competitor) but you want yours to be "up" and fast when your visitors come, and you want them to come...few people put up a web site just to look at themselves.

I operate a true NO OVERSELLING Host.  You know it's "funny" but a year or two ago I was the only person on WHT  and some other forums with "No Overselling" in my signature...now there are many-and lots of offers in the offers section. I have looked at some of these offers and some seem legitimate but others must use a different definition of no-overselling, on the main site there's a page called "The Educated Consumer", you can find out what I mean by no overselling there; AND that's the only way I have ever operated. So while others are jumping on the bandwagon as they realize people are getting tired of their experience with the "oversellers" we like to think I started the trend, by making it our business model from day 1, over 7 years ago, when the overselling packages were nowhere near as big as they are now.
(Unlike many of the newcomers we have specially designed spreadsheets developed over 6 years and configured for every server's resources vs. "advertised resources" sold on that server and checked against every order configured new or upgrade every day.)  
Why Does that matter?

I created a special page to sum it up quickly because your time is valuable and my plans may SEEM smaller for the price at the first. However it boils down to the fact my servers are NEVER working too hard, there are always plenty of resources for you from streaming your video to popping up an e-business cart lightning fast (and if you do e-business you know how important that is to your customers).
Because there are no bottlenecks where our servers connect to the web, our multi-core processors with lots of RAM and RAID disk arrays stand ready to deliver your content...but mainly our servers "loaf" 99% of the time. Because we only place the theoretical limit of customers on a server, every machine could deliver every bit of "sold" advertised resources to every client at the same time and not overload any server.
Of Course that never happens in the hosting world, different people visit different sites at different times of the day and night so our average server load is below 1/2 of 1% of capacity!
We ONLY offer shared hosting, which is more than adequate for most people when it is NOT oversold. Doing one thing-and doing it very well is our business model.

Note: As of May 1 2009 our minimum for server is Quad-Core Nehalem Xeon 45nm "latest-tech" with Intel's latest "automatic-overclocking" and 8GB High-speed DDR2 ECC RAM and we are already planning for either the 6 cores next or maybe the 8 cores if they are released as scheduled hmmm---4-8 core Nehalem processors-mind boggling 32 cores! But 1 per box is more practical as we concentrate on the next generation in hard drives!. Our New minimum shared servers are what many companies run "VPS" & reseller packages on - we use it to provide unbeatable shared performance. (at the end of April 2009 there was a 1 hr. scheduled downtime as we replaced our last dual-core with a new Quad server; it was at off-peak time and customer on that server were notified in advance)
Since going "All Quad Nehalem Xeon" we have never exceeded 1.0 load at peak (average is below 0.25) and 30% RAM use on ANY server!
Some hosts run from loads of 5 to 10 as "normal" and ours will not even need the new Intel "auto-overclocking" unless they go over 4.0 but it's there if needed... Nobody offers similar power "on demand" Your site will be blazing fast 24/7/365!

So why not be like all the other hosts and offer cheaper prices and LOADS of resources we know will never be used? (basically "selling" something that doesn't exist because like every host I know nobody, or only a very few people, will need it and "find out")

Because I just don't think that's honest!

Old fashioned, yep-told you I was over 50, I just don't like false advertising. I come from Texas where we say-- "no matter how you dress up a pig; it's still a pig".
Hokey old saying I know but Overselling or "unlimited" is false advertising, sure maybe it works OK and some hosts operate that way just fine...but why do it...in a word--Greed.
I see no reason to be greedy. With today's high performance servers at reasonable prices to us (hosts), why not just add more servers than try to make twice the money off of one "box"? Or as we have recently just upgrade; you know as well as I do that there are new faster chips and other components introduced literally every week. (And a whole new generation of Intel Nehalem chips will start arriving in early 2010)
We do have to charge a bit more (only 2 to 4 dollars) to cover offering the BEST in everything and cover today's increased processing charges for credit cards etc. We now take Discover too but as an example if a customer has a "rewards" card for every $10 they spend we actually receive about $4 before taxes...the card companies are greedier than ever and that we can't change; and we won't oversell to disguise it.

So that's what I do. High performance servers expertly tuned for efficiency so it's enough to "sell" what a machine is REALLY  capable of. Sure, people tell me often I am wasting 2/3 of each server (or more) but the average web server today is considered "full" when it runs at an average "load" of "10" (some hosts push to "20") and our servers average less than "0.50" load over the day---it may be a waste of profits if you are greedy; but to me it means if you run a big ad and 10x as many people visit your site tomorrow or 300 more people show up to post on your forum or listen to your podcast the server you are on has plenty of power ready to handle them.
